Understanding changes what knowledge can do.
Remembering information matters, but it is not the end of learning. Children also need opportunities to explain ideas in their own words, connect them with previous knowledge and notice when something does not make sense.
Reasoning asks learners to compare possibilities, look for evidence, challenge assumptions and work through uncertainty. Creation is where learning becomes useful: applying an idea to solve a problem, make something or imagine a new possibility.
A future assistant, only where learning happens
Future Learning Units will include a Zippy Panda Assistant. It will not be a generic website chatbot and it will not appear on the public website. It will operate only within the context of the Learning Unit a child is using.
Its future role will be focused: answering questions about the current Learning Unit, explaining concepts in another way, providing hints, guiding exploration, identifying missing foundational knowledge and suggesting prerequisite Learning Units when appropriate.
